Affiliate marketing Influencer known for … Gaming

How to start affiliate marketing?

The world of computer games, which a few decades ago was mainly associated with children’s entertainment, has now become a powerful industry that generates more income than film or music. It can be said that everyone is currently playing – regardless of age and gender, which means that more and more influencers known from gaming appear on the Internet. Who are such people and how to gain popularity by playing games?

Gamer, or…

Gamer, or… A person who plays video games – this is the simplest definition. However, there is much more to this term. A modern gamer is not only someone who spends time playing video games, but also a member of a global community, an element of a dynamically developing culture and often passionate about technology. We are talking primarily about a person who:

  • specializes in video games and uses various platforms – consoles (Playstation, Xbox or Nintendo), computers, smartphones and VR devices;
  • Playing out of passion and/or using their skills by participating in esports competitions or streaming gameplay on various platforms such as Twitch and YouTube.
  • interacts with other players and builds communities around them, whose members are eager to follow their actions and achievements;
  • has a major impact on culture and technology.

Start with…

The path to becoming a gaming influencer starts with a passion for gaming. This is the absolute foundation on which you can build your career. In practice, however, becoming an online personality in this field requires a combination of a love of games with the ability to engage others and the use of online platforms to build a community. Here are the key steps that lead to becoming an influencer.

1. Finding a niche and style

The absolute basis is to determine the type of games that will become a springboard to popularity. Currently, the vast majority of influencers build their careers on titles such as Minecraft, League of Legends, Counter-Strike or DOTA, but the possibilities are much wider. Nothing stands in the way of playing other titles – role-playing RPGs, shooters, adventures or sports games such as FIFA or NBA 2K.

In addition to finding the subject matter, you should also think about your style of action. For example, the creator can create reviews or gameplays, comment on individual titles with humor or offer their viewers detailed guides.

2.  Investing in equipment

A gamer cannot do without the right equipment, i.e. a computer with good parameters or a console. In addition, a microphone, a webcam and software – e.g. for streaming or video editing – will be necessary.

3. Content creation

If you want to become an influencer known for gaming, you need to create content that will be very popular with your audience. The following are especially recommended:

streaming, i.e. live gaming, during which the game is watched by others – this is possible thanks to platforms such as Twitch, YouTube Gaming or TikTok Live;

video recordings, primarily on YouTube – we are talking about all kinds of reviews, guides, unboxings or gameplays;

short content, shared via TikTok, Instagram or YouTube, which attracts especially younger audiences.

Regardless of which type of content a creator chooses, they should take care of quality, have their own style and maintain authenticity. These are the foundations on which the popularity and recognition of the community is built.

4. Improving skills

A future influencer should regularly publish content and improve it – both in terms of quality and diversity. They also need to improve their gaming skills, learn video editing techniques, optimize content for SEO or engage viewers. At the same time, it is worth following the latest trends and events in the world of gaming to stay up to date.

5.  Monetize your efforts

Is it already?

Whether a gamer has already become an influencer is primarily evidenced by the numbers. It is assumed that this term can already be used by creators gathering several thousand viewers, and the status of a microinfluencer is granted after exceeding the threshold of 10,000 followers, e.g. on YouTube. However, this is not all.

What does the fact that you have become an influencer mean? The most important signals are:

  • Having an active community where members comment, ask questions, attend events that the creator organizes, and are willing to share the content they offer.
  • Feedback from viewers who make their decisions based on a gamer’s recommendations (e.g., messages that their tips were helpful or that someone purchased the game because of a review).
  • increasing income that comes from advertising, donations or cooperation with brands and affiliate agencies – the growing interest of companies in the person of a gamer is often the most important signal that he has become a recognized influencer;
  • being perceived as an expert in the world of gaming – when other people in the industry know the creator and consider him or her as a person who provides valuable content.

So, a creator starts to be an influencer when they create content that reaches people, engages them, and makes an impact. The most important thing is to consistently build your community and act authentically – then the status of an influencer will come naturally.
